Catherine Wilkins is a writer and comedian.
Catherine's first novel for 9 to 12s, My Best Friend and Other Enemies was published by Nosy Crow in 2012 to great acclaim.
It was selected by The Independent as one of the Top 10 books for Christmas, described as 'properly funny, a hilarious tale of childhood friendship.' Jenny Colgan descibed it as 'brilliantly funny and painfully true'.
My Best Friend and Other Enemies has been selected for the Booktrust Book Buzz programme - putting it directly into the hands of young readers throughout the UK. As a result, Catie is in great demand for school visits...
A sequel, My Brilliant Life and Other Disasters was previewed at an event in August 2013 at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the audience was clearly delighted with the new novel. Catherine wrote about the event, in which she appeared alongside Fiona Foden and Philip Ardagh, on her website. Copies will be available in September.
Catherine is currently working on the third book about Jessica and her friends... or are they?
When she's not writing for young people, Catherine appears on-stage as comedian Catie Wilkins, and writes comedies and screenplays.
Catherine lives with her husband and two rescued cats in London.
She is represented by Fraser Ross Associates for her children's books and by Corrie McGuire at Objective Talent Management for her comedy, tv, film and scriptwriting.
