World Book Day is traditionally an incredibly busy time of year for authors and illustrators - they're in demand from schools, libraries, bookshops - anywhere books and readers are likely to be.
The range of events is fantastic, and the opportunities for authors and illustrators to meet new readers for their books are welcome. But while the media coverage may move elsewhere, much of that activity continues, albeit at a less frenetic level.
So here's to the librarians and booksellers for whom every day is Book Day, every week Book Week, every month Book Month and every year Book Year.
There isn't a single day of the year that wouldn't be made better by the acquisition of a book, and time taken to read it.
